Tutor guidelines
Last updated 29 October 2026
Simple habits that get tutors hired, keep guardians happy and build a good name on Manage Tutor.
1. Build a strong profile
- Photo: a clear, friendly photo of your face, in good light, with a plain background. No group photos, sunglasses or logos.
- Education: add every level (SSC, HSC, university) with institution, group and result. Guardians look at this first.
- About me: three or four sentences on what you teach, how you teach and what guardians can expect from you.
- Teaching details: the classes, mediums, subjects, areas, days and expected salary you can really commit to.
- Get verified: upload your NID (or birth certificate or passport) and institution ID. Verified tutors are shortlisted far more often.
2. Apply well
- Read the full job before applying: class, medium, location, days, time and salary.
- Apply to jobs that truly fit. Many applications to unsuitable jobs lower your chances.
- Write a short, personal note: why you suit this student and when you can start.
- Ask a fair salary in line with the post.
3. The demo class
- Arrive on time, dressed neatly, with the materials you need.
- Find out what the student already knows, then teach one topic clearly.
- Agree the schedule, salary and start date with the guardian before you leave.
4. While teaching
- Be punctual. If you must miss a class, tell the guardian in advance and offer a make-up class.
- Share progress with the guardian regularly: what was covered, homework and test results.
- Keep your phone away during class and keep the focus on the student.
- Keep the student safe and treat the family’s home with respect.
5. Things that are never allowed
- False information or documents.
- Asking for advance payment or extra charges you did not agree.
- Any physical punishment, harassment or inappropriate behaviour.
- Passing a tuition to another person without the guardian’s agreement.
